Day 1: Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu airport and trek to Ringmo 2,700 m, BLD, Camping

Today our journey towards Dudh Kunda Lake begins with an exciting flight towards Phaplu, a thrilling airport we would call. With about 35 minutes of thrilling flight, we will reach Phaplu. We will begin our trek from Phaplu and trek to Ringmo, pass through green dense forest full of rhododendrons, pleasant green meadows and the wildlife of this region. Many species of beautiful birds are also found in this region. Having a close view of the wonderful mountains we will stay one night over there.

Day 2: Trek from Ringmo to Sarsar Beni (3,800 m), BLD, Camping

After having a close silent stay in Ringmo for a night, it will be difficult to forget that night of your life. To make it more remarkable, next day we will trek to Sarsar Beni. At this point, now you’re trekking upwards to the higher altitudes so take the gentle steps to acclimatize well while you keep going.

Day 3: Trek to holy Dudh Kunda Lake (4,600 m), BLD, Camping

This would be the important day of this trek. We will camp in Dudh Kunda Lake, the highlight of our whole journey, for a night and witness the magical views from there. Early morning, after having a heavy breakfast, we will be climbing higher about 800 m more from Sarsar Beni and we will make sure to reach our destination Dudh Kunda Lake as earlier as we can. Crossing the mesmerizing views of silent Himalayas we will also come across Kalo Pokhari (the black pond). According to local indigenous people, one should not view Kalo Pokhari (the black pond) en route until without reaching Dudh Kunda lake. We can view the fascinating views of the mountains such as Mt Numbur (6,958 m) and Mt Karyalong (6,685 m). Once we reach this holy Dudh Kunda Lake, we will camp one night remembering this glorious trekking through mountainous trails and enjoying the moment that we achieved. The vantage point of Dudh Kunda lake has the best panoramic views of the Himalayas. It is said that Dudh Kunda Lake remains quite dark and shadowed throughout the year but gets milky in August only.

Day 4: Trek from Dudh Kunda to Junbesi via Pare Dande Pass, BLD, Camping

After spending a night over in our destination, we know its difficult to leave such a beautiful and holy place but we have to move on since we have more to explore. We will walk towards Junbesi early morning. It is going to be a weary walk. Junbesi has a large number of beautiful monasteries; Thubten Cholin Monastery and more so that we can spend a night exploring the cultural and spiritual sides of the village.

Day 5: Trek down from Junbesi to Beni and to Phaplu, BLD, Camping

On this very final trekking day, we will trek back to Phaplu from where we began our trek in the trail.

Day 6: Fly back to Kathmandu, B.

After completing the adventurous Dudh Kunda Lake trekking in the Everest region, we will fly back to Kathmandu. End of journey.

Dudh Kunda Trekking departs from Kathmandu as per our fixed departure dates. You can join any available fixed departure groups if you are a solo or small group travelers if you wish to, when the trips cannot be customized.

But if you are in a private group, fixed departure dates are not suitable for you and so you need to choose your own dates and packages, when you can customize the trek as per your travel needs. Safe Drinking Water during Dudh Kunda Trekking

Hydrating yourself is the most important thing to do during the trek. You should drink at least 3 liters of water every day or more. The main reason is to avoid the altitude sickness and to avoid other health issues. Important point to Note

We always suggest you to keep extra one or two days in your trek since we are taking the domestic flights from/to Phaplu. The weather in the mountains is unpredictable and can change anytime drastically which means your flight can be delayed or at worst cancelled and postponed for the next day. During the camping days, you will be sleeping in the camps set up by our field Sherpa staffs. There will be separate kitchen and dining tents. Your meals will be freshly cooked and you will be served day and nights by our Sherpas. Our staffs will carry the sleeping bags, pillows and mattresses for you to sleep in the tents. What are the permits that I need for Dudh Kunda Trekking?

For Dudh Kunda Trekking, you will need to make two permits: Gaurishankar Conservation Area entry fee and TIMS card {Trekkers' Information Management System}.

How does this tipping system in Nepal works and do I have to tip?

Tipping is not compulsory for Dudh Kunda Trekking however tipping is all about showing your gratitude and appreciation. We care about our staffs in the fields so we expect you to look after them in return for them looking after you throughout your journey. They are your closest friend in the remotest parts and also your protector whenever anything seems to happen to you. So tipping is highly expected and we’ve made it mandatory too. The amount of gratuities can be determined by yourselves. Normally, a guide and also a porter expects around $10 or more per day.

Can I charge my phones, batteries or other electronic devices during Dudh Kunda Trekking?

The charging of your electronic devices can be rarely done in this trek so please charge every instrument of yours before leaving for the journey. It's highly recommended to carry the solar back ups and extra power back ups as well.

When is the best time to trek to Dudh Kunda Lake?

Dudh Kunda Trekking can be done throughout the year. However in average, Spring {March, April and May} and Autumn {September, October and November} are the best times or seasons to trek to Dudh Kunda Lake. Spring and Autumn are known as the Peak season or Busy season in Nepal. It’s because the temperature is moderate during these seasons and the best panoramic mountain views are guaranteed while during other Summer {June, July and August} and Winter {December, January and February} season, the clear weather is not guaranteed. Do I need to be healthy and physically fit for Dudh Kunda Trekking?
