Bhairav Kunda trekking is the recently introduced trekking journey in Sindhupalchok district of Nepal which falls in Langtang region. This amazing adventure is all about the journey to a holy lake known as ‘Bhairav Kunda’ which is named after a destructive form of Lord Shiva ‘The Bhairav’. Bhairav is the reincarnation of the Hindu god Lord Shiva who takes this from to destroy the evils and demons. The trekking to Bhairav Kunda is an off-the-beaten trail trekking to the northeast of Kathmandu, right next to holy Panch Pokhari ‘five lakes’ and closer to Nepal Tibet border. Bhairav Kunda trail offers the unparalleled combination of culture, history, biodiversity and the natural beauty.

Bhairav Kunda trekking is one of the most famous and recognized pilgrimage treks in Nepal especially among the Hindu followers and devotees. The holiest lake which is situated at the high altitude of 4,250 m has the most pristine location and its unique unsurpassable beauty. We follow the unique trail to get to this lake mostly the settlements inhabited by Newars and observe their daily customs and cultures at the same time. Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire (1,000 m) 5 hrs, BLD, Tented camping

In this very first day of our remarkable journey to the Holy Bhairav Kunda, we will start driving early from Kathmandu towards Jalbire. Jalbire is a typical Newari village which has a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the bank of Balephi River. Overnight in the tented camp.

Day 02: Trek from Jalbire to Chanaute (1,350 m) 5 hrs, BLD, Tented camping

We will start stepping up from today after beginning the trek. Passing through a waterfall and few ethnic Tamang villages, we arrive in Chanaute for the night camp. Chanaute is a small village which inhabits the Chhetri and Brahmin communities.

Day 03: Trek from Chanaute to Khani Gaon (2,000 m) 6 hrs, BLD, Tented camping

We step up in our games today. A bit more challenging and steep trails that we take today. Enjoying the stunning views of greenery, settlements and the streams behind us, we will continue towards a Newar village called Khani Gaun. According to the historical records, during the war between Gorkha and Bhaktapur, the people from Bhaktapur flew to this place to save their lives.

Day 04: Rest day at Khani Gaun with Local Village sightseeing, BLD, Tented camping

In this historical and the cultural village, we take a day rest and explore around the villages. We visit the locals, share some stories and also learn about their daily lifestyles and traditions.

Day 05: Trek from Khani Gaun to Forest Camp (3,150 m) 6 hrs, BLD, Tented camping

Early in the morning after breakfast, we will start another day trekking with the uphill hike towards the steep area. We will pass through the lush rhododendron forests when we might be able to catch a glimpse of some rare Himalayan birds like Danfe and Munal including wild animals. Forest camp for the night camp.

Day 06: Trek from Forest Camp to Pati (3,765 m) 5 hrs, BLD, Tented camping

Another day of ascending higher and higher towards our main destination Bhairav Kunda. The trek gets tougher, though for a short amount of time than earlier days. Passing through the pine and rhododendron forests, we will arrive in Pati to feast the stunning mountain views. We will camp nearby the rest houses for the pilgrims.

Day 07: Trek from Pati to Bhairav Kunda (4,250 m) 4 hrs, BLD, Tented camping

Today we arrive at our main destination, Bhairav Kunda after few hours of walking from Pati. A holy pilgrimage site which gets flocked by the pilgrims from all over Nepal especially during June and July, Bhairav Kunda is a small lake which also has a temple next to it, both dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Day 08: Trek from Bhairav Kunda to Sherpa Gaun (2,500 m) 6 hrs, BLD, Tented camping

Rise up early in the morning to catch up the breathtaking sunrise view over the Himalayas, which will be after a short hiking to the hilltop. The Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling and Tibetan Himalayan ranges can be seen from the top of Bhairav Kunda. After enjoying the panoramic sunrise view, we descend down to Sherpa Gaun, a typical Sherpa village to stop and explore the surroundings.

Day 09: Trek from Sherpa Gaun to Larcha (1,500 m) 5 hrs, BLD, Tented camping

All good things has come to an end. Now we have already arrived to the last day of our trekking journey. We trek through the bank of Bhote Koshi River on a levelled terrain to reach Larcha in few hours where we take a bath in the natural hot spring. Ease your whole body and relax in the hot water bath. Last night camping in the mountains.

Day 10: Drive from Larcha to Kathmandu 6 hrs, BLD.

We drive early morning towards Kathmandu in this final day of our adventure. With Nature Lovers Treks and Tours, hope you had a great time as we served you with utmost effort and care. Farewell dinner is served in the evening with typical Nepali cultural performances.

Safe Drinking Water during Bhairav Kunda Trekking

Hydrating yourself is the most important thing to do during the trek. You should drink at least 3 liters of water every day or more. How does this tipping system in Nepal works and do I have to tip?

Tipping is not compulsory for Bhairav Kunda Trekking however tipping is all about showing your gratitude and appreciation. We care about our staffs in the fields so we expect you to look after them in return for them looking after you throughout your journey.
