Day 01:Drive from Kathmandu to Tarkeghyang (2600m) - 6 Hours, LD, Teahouse

Your Ama Yangri Trek begins with a scenic 6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Tarkeghyang. The drive takes you through winding roads, offering breathtaking views of the Indrawati River, terraced fields, and lush hills. Today is the highlight of your trek as you hike from Tarkeghyang to Ama Yangri Peak (3771m) and return back to Tarkeghyang. After an early breakfast, you begin your ascent through lush forests of rhododendron and oak trees, with views of the surrounding mountains gradually unfolding as you gain elevation. The hike is moderate, with steady but manageable uphill sections. As you ascend, the trail offers glimpses of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, and distant peaks, providing excellent photo opportunities. The final push to the summit of Ama Yangri takes you above the tree line, where you are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the entire Langtang range, including the famous Langtang Lirung (7,227 meters).

Once you reach the peak, take time to appreciate the breathtaking landscape, the peaceful environment, and the vastness of the Himalayas. You’ll make the return journey from Tarkeghyang back to Kathmandu. After breakfast, you’ll begin the drive back, which will take around 6-7 hours. The return route follows the same scenic roads, winding through the foothills and offering more beautiful views of the river valleys and terraced landscapes. As you descend towards Kathmandu, you’ll notice the transition from the peaceful rural surroundings to the bustling capital city. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll have time to relax and reflect on the successful completion of the Ama Yangri trek. You may want to explore some of Kathmandu’s historic sites or simply rest and rejuvenate after the adventure.
