Ultra-light aircraft in Pokhara

Ultra-Light Aircraft

“Life is good when sharing the sky with the birds.”

Ultra-light aircraft was started in Nepal in 1997. Ultra-light provides an extraordinary opportunity to admire and observe nature's beauty within a short period. It’s considered a recreational aviation flight for those who enjoy the adventure. More importantly, ultra-light aircraft is a medium to observe the magnificent Pokhara valley along with the mountain peaks and lakes. Ultra-light aircraft is a very light plane with no window but only seating for a pilot and a passenger. These aircraft can reach very close to the mountains. Early autumn and early spring are considered the best season for ultra-light flights. The flight will be a journey through nature and truly a unique experience.

There are different names for the flights because of the time duration it takes:

1. Short flight (15min)

Only in 15 minutes can ultra-light aircraft fly over the Pokhara and get the spectacular panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Far above the maximum altitude of 5000 feet, you can fly over Phewa Lake, near Sarangkot hill and the World Peace Pagoda.

2. Glory of Mt. Fishtail (30min)

A medium-duration flight takes you slightly higher and farther. You’ll fly over the Tibetan refugee camp and as far as Lamachour, in the northern part of the valley. This flight takes you as close to Fishtail Mountain as possible with a 90 km/hr speed. The view is simply superb.

3. Mountain range sky trek (60min)

Pokhara is an exceptional place to take this hour-long flight. You can fly around the city via the valley and make your way to the edges of Mt Fishtail (or Mt Machapuchare).  On this flight, you get so near the mountain that you can almost wipe the snow off the peaks with your hand.  While flying, you can see four of Nepal’s 8 highest peaks along with Annapurna 1, Annapurna 2, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu. This flight provides a beautiful assessment of the Annapurna Range with speeds from 90 km/hr to 130 km/hr and the best altitude of 12,000 feet.  Best for adventurers and photographers.

4. Into the heart of the mountain (90min)

The best attraction of 90 minutes flight is, it will take you deeper and closer to the Himalayan giants than anything else while allowing ample time to enjoy the sights. You’ll fly past remote mountain villages that even trekking will miss. The experience of being surrounded by the Himalayas is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Price per person for different time duration: $150, $250, $360, $480.
